Abstract

Looking at the worldwide motherboard shipment performance in the first quarter of 2011, in spite of the problems with Sandy Bridge chipsets in January, China labor shortage in February, component shortage due to Japan earthquake in March, and slowdown of branded desktop PC vendors' demand, the overall motherboard shipment still recorded growth thanks to the launch of Sandy Bridge-platform P67, H67, and H61 chipsets and branded motherboard manufacturers' aggressive effort to tap the market. Consequently, the worldwide motherboard shipment volume grew 3.6% sequentially in the first quarter, reaching approximately 33.85 million units.
